Your Recruiter’s “SCARY” public speaking event…

Hello to all,

It has been a week since I spoke at networking event for www.opportunitiesknocking.com and as I reflect, it reminds me of a blog entry by Seth Godin http://sethgodin.typepad.com/

I had a great time, and I have realized that “eyeballs” is what is going to catapult my professional life to the next level. One way of accomplishing that goal is “leverage” via social media, as well as other avenues such attending networking events, public speaking, radio show’s, and my ultimate goal… A guest appearance on Oprah Winfrey!

Here's a favorite excerpt: (From Seth’s Blog)

Leadership is scarce because few people are willing to go through the discomfort required to lead.

The scarcity makes leadership valuable. If everyone tries to lead all the time, not much happens. It’s discomfort that creates the leverage that makes leadership worthwhile.

In other words, if everyone could do it, they would, and it wouldn’t be worth much.

It’s uncomfortable to stand up in front of strangers.
It’s uncomfortable to propose an idea that might fail.
It’s uncomfortable to challenge the status quo.
It’s uncomfortable to resist the urge to settle.

When you identify the discomfort, you’ve found the place where a leader is needed.

If you’re not uncomfortable in your work as a leader, it’s almost certain you’re not reaching your potential as a leader.

I totally agree with this, and believe if we are not willing to “be uncomfortable” at times, we are not fully realizing our creator’s intentions for each and every one of us!

Have a Blessed day,

Brian-
