As promised in Tuesday’s brief blog entry “Video Resume: Taking Another Look” today’s entry will focus on my interview with Ty Abernethy, Founder of ZuZu Hire.

Who is Ty Abernethy and what drew him to the recruiting world?

Ty grew up in recruiting staffing industry, his Father founded and expanded a successful Atlanta based recruiting firm. Growing up in a family business launched Ty’s passion for and in the recruiting world, he currently manages the finance and accounting recruiting division.

The concept and birth of ZuZu Hire began during a debate between Ty and his Father about the internet and online services changing the game for recruiters…Ty believed there could be a tool to streamline the front end of recruitment, thus not having to solely depend on a recruiter for the front end screening. The problem, it didn’t exist …yet. Welcome ZuZu Hire to the scene!

With a team of recruiters, some exclusively recruiting  while some are a part of ZuZu Hire they share their experiences, insights and innovative passion for recruiting and bring out the best of what ZuZu Hire can offer. This hard work has led to the launch of a limited beta version – free for people to test it out and get a feel for the services; a full beta version to be rolled out right on its heels ready to make all the bells and whistles available.

What’s ZuZu Hire’s mission?

ZuZu Hire wants to ease the burden of organizations and companies that are under staffed and need another way to screen applicants – quickly. Consider organizations with especially in high volume candidates where it is hard to distinguish skill sets from a paper resume.

With an organization driven focus, ZuZu Hire’s services are initiated by the employer.  The employer creates a custom interview questionnaire that can ask up to 25 questions. What kind of questions? That’s up to the employer! The employer enters the questions they want to screen applicants with followed by their preferred answer. No the applicant doesn’t see the back-end part, that is solely for the employer. Once the interview template is created you are given a link that can be emailed, posted, texted, added to your website, and just about any form of distribution you can imagine. Thus enabling you to reach the masses quickly with your online screening tool.

So what?

How about as the employer you can choose from video responses, audio responses, written, essay and multiple choice! Want another perk? How about two – the interview question page can be customized to reflect your organization’s brand, and if you use multiple choice questions there is an answer ranking option. Yes, correct you get the option of printing off a ranked listing of all the respondents multiple choice answers – that way you can contact the top 5 respondents without having to go through the potential hundreds of entries. Not too shabby in my opinion.

Why am I so excited about this new and upcoming service? Think about it…in a traditional recruiting process there exists a high volume of  “in-progress” time that is wasted. Job posted, or emailed or listed on facebook or tweeted, then you wait for the resumes to come in, then you screen them, then you may hold a brief phone screening interview, then you get to the real value of time investment the main interviewing phase.  ZuZu Hire if used properly can shorten the front end of this process and get you to the value based interviewing phase quicker.

Time = Value = Money.

This of course is my two cents, and you don’t have to take my blog for it – contact me directly and we can chat about it further…or contact ZuZu Hire yourself tell them you heard about them through my blog and see what value they uncover with you.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Lisa:- It is really very good post. Video resumes give you an opportunity to show the real you. It is a chance to elaborate and show what makes you uniquely deserving of the job you are applying for. Text resumes don't give you any room for creativity. They don't allow you to differentiate yourself and your skills from anyone else that is applying for the same position you are.
