Effects Of A Recession on Employment

I keep being told that the economy is in a recession and that it is going to be tough for everyone currently looking for employment. I do not believe that. This is a country of opportunity and it always will be. The resolve of the employer and employee will be tested today more than ever. Employers will have to start focusing on the employee who is the number one asset in a company. While the employee, will have to prove there value more than ever.

Tips for an Employee:

Maintain a strong relationship with your supervisor,
Work hard to execute the tasks assigned,
Think outside the box on ways to add value to the business.

Tips for an Employer:

Assist the employee in executing the agenda you set for them
Support them on the initiatives
Set realistic requirements

If you follow these initiatives, you will succeed in achieving success.

Hi Mark,

Although your advice is good advice for employees and employers, the job front has changed the rules of the game for employees. Tens of thousands of people have lost and continue to lose jobs, despite the fact that employees are working harder and longer than they ever have before. In this economy, there's one rule that employees need to remember and that is the first rule of business - businesses are in business to make money." When budgets get tight, salaries get cut.

I do agree that you have to think postive about achieving success though! Optimism is vital when times get tough! Take care, Mark.

If I could add a tip to your list of employee tips, it would be "know your company's financial condition , understand how it can impact your job and prepare accordingly".

Infact on linkedin we have a lively discussion---will companies resort to 4 days week??--4x10hrs per day.---Indian employees will be benefitted---since nobody can work as an Indian can at the costs which can be unbelievable--and there are going to be protests in US and other countries---but companies will have to go LEAN and demand productivity levels at very low wages---
