Personal information in the 21st century

We’ve all heard the horror stories of people getting their identity stolen and having piles of bills to pay, but after reading a privacy quiz on darkreading.com discussing how your personal information can be bought and sold by just about anyone who has it I felt a little uncomfortable. Sure most of the answers I would have gotten correct, and of course I don’t provide such information unless I absolutely have to, but as someone who likes their privacy that was certainly a depressing quiz.

It also brings up the question of how recruiters handle candidate, and for that matter, company information. I know that we view our information as strictly "for our eyes only" and keep it secured as best we can. However, I have to imagine that it's legal somewhere for recruiters to sell this and if it's legal you can expect someone to be cashing in on making a few extra bucks from their "research".

How does your company handle candidate information?

Great topic, Bill. Candidates are becoming more computer savvy as well. That's why I'm developing www.thecandidatenetwork.com. Check it out (it's in it's very early stages and I'm not a professional web designer) and... please let me know what you think.

This is a real issue which will impact recruiting as more users become more computer savvy.
