Today is a special day, not just a Monday but a special Monday; as today is when the FM industry grows by one more person.

The story started several months ago when a client of ours asked if I could find them a Business Development Manager for Scotland and the North; but based in Aberdeen. 'Of course', I said, took down the details and received the role description. After hanging up the phone I thought, 'Oh dear!, a tough assignment for sure. What's in Aberdeen? Oil & Gas people, some FM support and lots of lovely surrounding countryside'.

After turning up most (arrogant to say 'all') stones in FM, with a couple of false starts (nobody's perfect), I turned to sales people with an engineering bent. And there I found Andrew. He had recently returned from overseas where he was a recruitment manager for an Oil & Gas engineering company but he knew how to sell and develop relationships. But what made him stand out for me was his attitude. He was bright, articulate, enquiring, open minded, and he responded well to my questioning and inherent challenges therein. He researched the client company and asked intelligent questions. Well, you know where I'm going with this don't you......

Two very rewarding interviews and a job offer an hour later on his way home, which he accepted. Job done.

Andrew starts today and swells the FM numbers by one and he's a good one too. What's more an invoice is being printed now so today is indeed a 'Good Day'.
