Social Media Monitoring - Why is it essential?

We live in a world that is dominated by technology. The advancement in technology has resulted in almost every one being active on popular social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ and Pinterest. This development makes one wonder whether Social Media Monitoring is essential. If this question has crossed your mind then you are on the right track.

Well then let’s answer the question, “Social Media Monitoring – Why is it essential?” Mind you if you think that this isn’t for you.  If you’re a recruiter, a sourcer or trying your hand at company branding, then this is for you.

Be aware of where you stand
I’ve on purpose started with this point because it is the basis of how you’re recruiting and branding activity is going to proceed. Social media can be like a brutally honest friend whose advice you need but you don’t really want to hear it. If you are looking for ways to improve your business or the reassurance that you’re doing a great job, then social media is the place to be. It gives you updated information about what your competitors are up to and how well they are doing. This lets you know what you are up against so you can put measures in place to compete with them.

Grab the Opportunities
Social media sites have a huge database of potential recruits and clients that you can approach by a simple post. Whether the post is about a job opening or branding you are likely to get the most views through these platforms. Advertising has never been so simple and yet so cost effective.

Watch your Reviews
Nothing affects your branding and reputation like negative views and interview experiences. Therefore it is essential that you tackle these reviews posted on the company’s online presence in a peaceful manner. Such reviews also affect the chances of recruiting talented individuals for the job opening. As far as possible it is preferable to consider the issues and try to resolve them effectively.

Identify your influencers
In order to get results, it is essential for you to know who your potential customers and applicants are. You also need to find out whose opinions hold the most weightage in the industry as these are the individuals with important connections, have thousands of followers and constantly post their own content. Apart from this you need to ensure that social network users spread positive reviews as this too affects the hires.

Learn what works
Well if you’re recruiting or company branding, you need to be aware of both the positive and negative post’s or customer and interview experiences that users are posting on social media platforms. Take Twitter for example once you know what people are tweeting about your company you can then make relevant changes. These changes can be applied to the content you post which can make all the difference between either chasing away or attracting potential candidates and clients.

So are you satisfied with this information? And have these points convinced you to start monitoring social media? If your answer to both these questions is yes, then start monitoring your company’s website and manage its online presence. Need I say more?
