I know we have all been there before- faced with difficult positions and lack of qualified candidates. I'm desperately looking for inspiration. I work in the auto industry- to some degree. We are a niche product that sells new and used wheelchair accessible vehicles-- 70 locations across the country that are essentially set up like mini dealerships, plus two corporate offices, and a BDC. I hire Auto Techs, Service Managers, Auto Salespeople, GM's, etc.- you get the gist...

I have tried everything I can possibly do. Or have I? Posting on Craigslist and Indeed, cold calling people I find on Monster, sending messages to people on Indeed, ihireautomotiveprofessionals.com, job boards on Facebook, LinkedIn posts, constant connecting with people in the industry, Froggerjobs (new website), DealerRefresh. I could go on for days..

I have some Auto Tech positions that are just sitting on my spreadsheet with NO ONE IN THE PIPELINE. Not my finest hour- this does not happen to me. This is definitely the worst it has been- complete radio silence. We have altered our position profiles 2X now to attract people- nothing.  I know at this point in many areas there are more people than jobs, but I just don't know what else to do.. Any thoughts?

Hello Lauren, that is frustrating...have you tried finding social media groups and interests where you can chat up and talk to potential candidate types?  Find them on twitter, facebook, and LI, and see if you can engage a few asking for help, not directly recruiting them, and see if that opens some doors.  Also, join here and ask...its us too...https://www.facebook.com/groups/secret.sourcing/

I have definitely tried social media groups on LI and FB, BUT I have not tried Twitter yet. We have a company Twitter page so I should try to contact marketing.. Thanks for the ideas and link!
