On Halloween I took my 3 year old to a local mall for trick or treating. As we went around the different retailers, most gave out stickers, and the candy that was given out was mostly dum-dum's and small tootsie rolls. Clearly not the year of the retailer. What really caught my attention was that several companies decided either to give out coupons (15 off your next 75 dollar purchase at our store) or simply did not participate.

It left such an impression on me, that I found my self taking mental notes of the companies who did not participate. The companies in question were very big retailers and I was determined to not purchase from them because of it. Now, I don't know why I had such a strong reaction to it, but I did. That made me think.

How many people walk away from an interview with a company with a negative experience and decide not to use that companies services or products? We don't take a lot of time to look at the influence that any negative experience with a company, has on the companies sales. I wonder if we should.
