1. Prepare and over-prepare.
2. Be particularly clear on what you know and what you want to achieve.
3. Make sure your responses match your claims.
4. Be clear about your strengths.
5. Describe your weaknesses as strengths.
6. If you’ve been fired, be forthright about it.
7. Be clear where you want to go.
8. Have clear personal standards.
9. Interview the interviewer.
10. Don’t allow yourself to be badgered by the salary issue.

The article talks about Top 10 Tips for a Successful Job Interview. However, it forgets the absolute number 1Tip to have before any of the others. What would that be you ask?

Learn Your Basic Employee Rights first! It is truly amazing the lack of "workplace readiness" career seekers and employees have. For example, you follow all the great interview prep steps given in this article and get the job.

You then find out several days or weeks later that the workplace is a hotbed of harassment, discrimination, unfair performance reviews, bullying and more aimed right at you!

You are in the thick of it and have little or no clue how to navigate the process of protecting your rights in the workplace. Every job applicant should invest time in learning his or her basic employee rights before seeking and accepting employment. Interview preparation is important to getting a job. Learning your basic employee rights is critical to keeping the job!
