Its true that social media is gaining popularity ass a base for recruiting, The most popular
amongst them are Twitter, My space and Facebook. Only recently companies have realized the hidden
power of the social networking sites, but still many other organizations are analyze the potential of the
social media for recruitment.
Now resume finding and resume pouring into a recruiter's in-box is quite different from the new
medium of social networking sites. Now every recruiter does not have the time to look through
hundreds of profiles and collect the resumes embedded it them, after all time is money. But is there any
other way to identify potential candidates.. I doubt it. The social networking sites provides lots of
profiles of potential candidates, some may be worth spending time on reading some just don't match the
requirement, waste of time, but since ancient times its been that one has to spend a little time on
anything to find out whether if its worthwhile to spend more time on it. As I said earlier, recruiters can
not afford to spend time even the little in reading of browsing through useless(on offense meant)
profiles.
When technology can aid us in putting something somewhere, it will surely aid us in getting
what we want from anywhere, be it in social media or the search engine, and when I say what we want,
I mean exactly what we want and not some close match.
I have come across products which employs resume capture technology to automate resume
extraction(parsing), screening and data entry. Recruiters can use it to automatically import resumes
they find in any social networking sites or job portals or search engines.
