Originally posted on the SmashFly Recruitment Marketing Blog.

Here is our weekly feature in which we share the top articles we enjoyed from the past week about recruitment marketing. This week’s topics include the top interview deal-breakers, breaking down talent barriers, getting the most for your talent budget, ways to know if you are an elite recruiter, social recruiting, a Monster Study and Facebook trying to take over the Web.

Here are the articles that peaked our interest this week (in no particular order), enjoy!:

The Recruiting Tool I Want – Baggage by Trish McFarlane (@TrishMcFarlane)

Interesting read on deal-breakers that eliminate candidates during the interview process and make recruiters say “Next”. What are your deal-breakers?

Breaking Down Talent Barriers by Geoff Peterson (@GeoffPeterson)

Geoff lists the top barriers he sees in recruiting top talent. I definitely agree with the last two points.

Trading Down in Talent by Kris Dunn (@kris_dunn)

Love this take by Kris that it’s not just about always getting the best talent period but getting the best talent for your budget. Great use of the NFL draft analogy!

18 Ways You Know that you are an Elite Recruiter by David Szary (@ERE_net)

I love lists and this is a good one. Also check out the comments as there are some great contributions to the list from readers.

How Recruiters are Using Social Media for Real Results by Sharlyn Lauby (@Sharlyn_Lauby)(@hrbartender)

Some great examples are included in this piece on social recruiting. Specifically liked the MythBusters example (using another network to enhance your own by contributing to the conversation.)!

Monster Study on Students Use of Social Media in their job Search by Monster (@monster_works)(courtesy of @mysensay)

Nice quick Study on what college students are using to conduct their job search. Using connections is still number one but there were also significant increases in using niche job boards and social media as well.

Facebook to Link Profiles and Pages by Jolie O’Dell (@mashable)

Facebook’s Next Trick: Become the Web by Patricio Robles (@econsultancy)

To end, we have two new developments from Facebook one that will effect your Social Recruiting on the platform and one that may change the web as we know it. Stay tuned!

Hope you enjoy the list. If you have any articles I should add to the list feel free to add them to the comments or send me an email at chris@smashfly.com.
