This is only amazing if Lockheed Martin's chats are actually efficient and effective in getting the right jobseekers to the right recruiter/hiring manager pronto.

Lockheed certainly wants to cut-to-the-chase by making themselves available online, but they are listing "hard-to-fill" positions--everyone does this--I was putting my direct phone line in Ad Copy for such positions as far back as in 1981.  Meaning I was making myself immediately available to job applicants.  So more power to them...this is a good move.

What may be novel here is setting up a scheduled chat line for college students.  I'm surprised they didn't specify select engineering, business, manufacturing disciplines.  And this is good as long as it's efficient and effective.  If they under-staff it and/or put inexperienced message takers online-it will overload and bog down.  It will cause more frustration than its worth.  However, if there are experiened, efficient and effective recruiters online--word will get out and Lockheed Martin will be the place to go for college graduates who want a no-hassle/no BS employment application experience.
