I was invited onto recruitingblogs.com some months ago. After some hesitation and a lot of thought, I accepted the invitation. At that time, I thought I could at least add an external reference to my website (www.differentialweb.com) and increase my search ranking on Google, Yahoo, etc.. On further reflection, I'm glad I did. Thinking back over my 28 year career along with about a dozen companies, I realized that in all but 2, did I use the services of a recruiter. The job boards (Monster, CareerBuilder, Dice, etc.) that were touted to directly connect people to job opportunities never came through. It was either a friend of mine or a recruiter knowing of an opportunity. Placing your resume or job opportunity online is like jumping into a swamp. Retrieving information, in turn, is being swamped. Either you invest a lot of time and effort filtering that info or use the services of a recruiter and focus on your specialty. For me, this site has provided me with info on how to format and focus my services to assist recruiters in doing their job of filtering that swamp of info.
