Has anyone ever considered this idea? I doubt job boards will like it very much...

hi all,

Here's an idea for you.........

recently we've been trying to hire someone for our company with a very specialist skill set and despite having used job boards, cv databases and the services of several recruitment/staffing firms.............we're still struggling to find a top quality candidate. Does that sound familiar?

A thought occurred to me. We all know that there are free job boards out there but what about a website where an employer could go to to list any vacancies they have (free) and..........search a cv database for free as well. I've heard the idea before..........a kind of people board. Basically the same services you get from a big job board but all completely free. It would be a kind of networking site for employees and prospective employers to find each other without the stumbling block of fees getting in the way.

There's no ulterior motive.........it's just a free site for anyone to post jobs or their cv to.

Could anyone suggest how it might generate awareness? I mean, how would someone promote it to generate awareness with employers to post jobs and also candidates to post cvs.

exactly that Jason.........a not for profit site linking job seekers and employers for free.

Was just curious if anyone had ever come across a site like this.

That would be a great site for every telemarketer, scam artist, insurance company, siding salesman and work at home flakey company to pick up lots of names and contact info. I guess the cyber gremlins are going to run it and be sure it also isn't full of every virus and trojan on the planet. But the concept is sure ducky.

no that wouldn't happen as it would be set up so the employer can't see the person's personal/contact details, only their employment/education history. The employer could then email the candidate a job vacancy and the onus is then on the candidate to reply with their full cv if they're intersted. Thus protecting their confidentiality.
