British workers aged 18 to 30 are being offered the opportunity to move to Australia for a year, which may be of interest to those looking to set up a recruitment agency.

The Australian government are keen to draw a workforce from the UK in order to help fill the 187,000 new jobs needed by 2015.

Positions will be offered as something British workers can undertake for a year, under a working holiday visa.

The jobs range from catching koalas to surveying the shark population.

The Australian government hopes that the contrast to desk jobs and the thought of a better work-life balance will encourage youngsters to give the opportunities down under a go.

Bill Muirhead, Australian agent general in the UK, said: "This isn't about one job that everyone has to compete for, but rather about showing people that South Australia offers more exciting work and travel options than anywhere else in the world."

Recently, new research showed that a third of UK recruiters intended to expand into Europe, with many of those looking to go further afield.
