I have learned to manipulate my way around a website to find information I need.  I have learned how to source candidates as well as clients.  I have found certain joy in the reading about the hi-jinx of other recruiters or the delightful stories of candidates gone wrong. And I have learned, more than anything else, how to be patient.

Several months ago, I was given a demo of VerbalSummary.  I am one of those users that jumps quickly to conclusions - I like to think I know what is next or how to use a certain software almost immediately or how to login or log out of almost anywhere.  This was not so true during my VS demo.  I was instructed to slow down and be patient.  Not a virtue in my book, more of a stain.  But patience persevered and I was able to complete the installation of a particular product and proceed with the demo.

Last month, my computer crashed in my home office, I lost almost everything due to a glitch - "damaged block" in my hard drive.  Luckily with the help pf my tech guy - who also happens to be my boss, lucky me, we were able to recover almost everything and put it in the cloud - Dropbox, my new favorite tool.  In the process, I lost the use of my printer at home as it was only connected to that one computer - haven't quite made the leap to wireless printing at home just yet.

So..., last night my daughter needed to print a paper for her college class and the printer sat lifeless in my home office.  We proceeded to move it the other part of the house and connect it to the other computer without the software or installed driver.  This is where my patience and eventual good connectivity paid off.  Four attempts at downloading the software from HP finally produced success and a homework assignment actually printed - the unexpected thrill of the beginning sounds of a print in progress - who knew?! 

The old Rayanne (no cracks!) would have given up on the stalled-out install.  But I just kept maneuvering my way through and back through the process again and voila!  Victory!  Just shows to go-ya, you can teach an old dog new tricks!  If at first you don't succeed, try, try again...
