Total Back Office Solutions can give you recruitment agency formation advice

The shortage of IT workers should be countered with a change to the way IT is taught, as well as initiatives to change perceptions of the industry, which may be of interest to those looking to set up a recruitment agency.

Maggie Berry of womenintechnology.co.uk has commented that more needs to be done to address the UK's shortage of IT workers.

She claims it is "ridiculous" that the UK is falling behind in the IT industry and that the shortage of workers could be a contributing factor.

During the first quarter of this year, the demand for ICT staff in the UK rose by five per cent, while the overall demand for labour fell by two per cent, according to research by e-skills UK.

"We need to do quite a bit of work around changing perceptions about what is available and what the careers might look like," Ms Berry comments.

A recent study by Manpower Inc revealed that there is also a shorted of skilled workers, which could cause economic problems in the future.
