Unscrupulous recruiters make the jobs of those playing the game by the rules an uphill battle. I'm not a recruiter but I do work closely with a few in the business. My work with recruiters started after I decided to add a Jobs Board (powered by SimplyHired) to my online community - The Discernible Business Reviews

The rules were simple:

I would offer a 50% discount on top of an already low posting fee priced at $10/30 days to recruiters who populated my jobs board with highly sort after career jobs. There was only one restriction. I made it explicitly clear that recruiters were not allowed to post jobs without the authorization of an employer or pressure employers into using their services by scouting other jobs sites for previously posted jobs.

Of course, as you would expect by the tone set in this post, the rules were broken. I've had many employers complained and ask that their job post be removed from my site. Apparently recruiters were scouting other job sites, reposting to my site and upon receiving qualifying applications they would apply to the original post with the resumes of the qualified applicants and offer the employer a chance to make the connection with the candidate at ridiculous prices.

Why can't some recruiters just stick to the rules? I ended up banning all recruiting posts but have since lifted the ban as of last month after making connections with a few honest recruiters.

If you're skilled recruiter there should be no need to resort to dirty tricks to earn a buck or two. Nobody likes deception. It's bad for the business.

I'm looking forward to building solid relationships with the ethical recruiters of the Recruiting Blogs Community.
