Is a PHR or SPHR certification really beneficial for a recruiter?

There's an interesting discussion brewing over on one of the Yahoo Recruiting Groups about this, and I'm curious what others in the RBC community think.

Does an HR certification help? Does any kind of recruiting certification help? In what ways?
