Talent Talk Cafe - Week of Dec. 1st: Is Community For You? AND Recruiting Community...a time for action

Welcome back from the Thanksgiving holiday! Isn't it nice to take a break and spend time with family and friends and reflect on what we are thankful for in our lives. If you missed the news on our new and expanded format you can read about it HERE, meet each of our contributing voices and see our December and January schedule.

This week on Talent Talk Cafe our theme is Community.

TUESDAY, Dec. 2nd at 3pm ET / 12pm PT
Join Rayanne on Tuesday for another dimension of personal development - Community!

Rayanne's chat will dig into a discussion that focus on the question - Is Community For You? "This is a time for giving - But, how much do you have to give in order to receive?" Rayanne's Chat explores:
> Interfacing communities
> Professional Communities
> Job Boards/Sites

THURSDAY, Dec. 4th at 3pm ET / 12pm PT
Join me on Thursday with special guest Gerry Crispin for a look at the Recruitment Community and what WE can accomplish collectively!

The business and economic challenges we face today are steeped in uncertainty and it seems like hardly a week goes by that the impact isn't felt personally through the stories of colleagues, friends or family. There are also some cool stories emerging that demonstrate the value of creativity and community. Check out this story from the New Jersey Jets. So where does Gerry come in? Well, he always has something interesting on his mind and in a recent ERE post he was mulling around what "we" as an industry could do to be supportive of friends and colleagues during the current economic challenges. Since we've had several great discussions on Talent Talk Cafe around community I thought what better place to toss some ideas around with Gerry and explore the idea of community in a way that hits close to home for many.

Join us for a compelling look at our own recruiting community as we explore two key areas:
> Individual call to action - what are things each of us can do to make a difference?

> Collective call to action - what are some things companies, vendors and/or online communities can do to make a difference?

Have you seen any interesting and creative ideas in action that are helping people during these challenging times? If so, please share them here or join us on the Chat!

If you've missed our previous discussions on community, here's some of our collective thinking:

Community is -
Common interest
Gaining wisdom and knowledge
Giving back
Collaborating
Members get back more than they contribute
Creating and furthering relationships
Respect
Web of inclusiveness
Trust
Intentional

I look forward to joining you on the Talent Talk Cafe Chats!
