Professionals have shared their views about what factors prevent them from setting up a recruitment agency.

Many people are afraid of setting up a recruitment agency due to fear of being alone, according to professionals who shared their views on peer-to-peer site LinkedIn.

A thread seeking to find out what factors prevent recruitment professionals from launching their own operations elicited a lot of responses, many of which centred on the fear of being alone.

One of the respondents, Andras Saghy, explained that the need to feel that one is part of a larger community, a desire to be able to share opinions with others and finance issues discouraged him from going solo.

"For me its the fear of going alone, along with securing the proper financing," added another respondent named Anthony Galvin, who explained that he was also afraid of failure.

However, Craig Milbourne, another industry insider, advised them not to be afraid of taking the plunge, saying there are "much better tax breaks" involved and "you can expense outgoings before they are taxed through your income".
