UK businesses adapted well to the difficult economic climate, according to one expert.

In news that may be of interest to recruiters planning to outsource back office solutions to an agency, UK businesses adapted well to the recession, according to one expert.

A new report from HSBC Commercial Banking shows a bright future for UK businesses thanks to their ability to retain the core qualities responsible for driving the nation's historical economic achievements.

Today's business leaders agree that historical British business success drivers, including innovation, the ability to trade internationally, entrepreneurialism and adaptability, are still relevant today.

Reacting to the report, Noel Quinn, head of commercial banking for HSBC, explained that large and small companies have performed well in spite of the difficult market conditions.

"The one thing that is unique this time round as they went into the recession is that companies actually preserved cash better than I was expecting and reduced debt during that time, and adapted their overall business models," he said.

Many smaller are returning to hiring sales staff, improving their websites and boosting marketing activities once more, the Forum of Private Business said recently.
