Hi there,

What ATS systems would you recommend? We would like to keep it on our Company server and to be user friendly (without much key punching). We want to store resumes there, our notes re candidates, and if possible, to keep track of our correspondence with them. Any ideas?

Nataliya, you should look at our recruiting CRM/ATS. It does all of what you are talking about and much more all on a next generation Web 2.0 platform - tags, tag management, no full page loads or pop-ups, crawlers for open internet mining, unified job board search, LinkedIN integration, etc. You can send emails to the system (and directly from it) and it parses out all of the data, including attachments like resumes, and automatically creates the record and/or stores the email thread so there is no data entry (it supports and parses all file types including PDF). You can bulk import contacts from Excel, .csv, gmail, plaxo, LinkedIN, etc. Creates a task list for you. It has journaling so you can see all activities on a candidate, job, or company record for the life of that record from all users in the system. It has a forms builder so you can create any forms, custom data fields, workflow, etc. to make it your system. I went through a Bullhorn demo today. Very impressive tool. Seems pricey though both in initial setup as well as the monthly, but it could be one of those "you get what you pay for" sort of situations. We'll see though. My ideal ATS would be one that integrates Broadlook Eclipse into the ATS. If any of them get to that level, I'd definitely be interesting in switching over to that ATS.

I've also heard good things about BigBiller, MaxHire, and WinSearch.
Can I ask why you want it on your company's servers? That actually limits your ability to be flexible (working from alternative locations, using mobile devices like the iPhone, etc.). If it's a security concern, the company hosting your solution will be able to provide you with an overview of their security protocol, which, in many cases, may be even better than what you have on your company servers.

We use Jobvite, which we've found to be intuitive, a good value, and it fits your needs (notes, interview comments, Outlook integration). It's an on-demand solution, and I can access it from anywhere in the world, including using my iPhone in the middle of backwoods Georgia!

As far as the security concerns, Jobvite handles their security very well, using several layers of protection. All content is SSL, and all HTTP requests use encrypted keys, so they cannot be modified to access other data. All server requests are validated, so the application constantly verifies the ability of a user to access information.

All customer data is backed up every 24 hours, and housed in Jobvite's state of the art data center. they have 24/7 on-site support engineers. Additionally, Jobvite's managed hosting partner provides expert 24/7 intrusion monitoring to identify and prevent unauthorized access to the data center.

From a physical security standpoint, the data center is secured with biometric locks and 24-hour security personnel. Everyone entering the building is screened and verified, and visitors are escorted to their appropriate locations.

I know I sound like a commercial for Jobvite, but I am just a very happy user. :) They have proven to provide a stable, scalable, competitively-priced solution that meets our needs.

Bullhorn can be great. But, the email integration piece equals a lot of time and clicking around in the tool. My recruiters at SOS Technical were frustrated that there were so many steps to go through just to get something accomplished. Yes, it compiles better reports, and yes, it was a more comprehensive tool, but there are technologies now (AJAX, etc) that would make the tool work so much faster than it currently does. Remember, "Works just like Outlook" and "looks just like Outlook" are NOT the same thing!

If you need a software that doesn't have a lot of HR functions than I would recommend you to check out CATS: www.catsone.com. I've been using it for almost a year now and this it is great. It has all functions that you are looking for (store resumes there, our notes re candidates, and if possible, to keep track of our correspondence with them), very user friendly, very good customer service, extremely affordable. You don't even have to go through any training in order to start using it (however they have a very detailed user guide). Another advantage is that you can start using a limited version right away. Hello Nataliya, there is a new product out called PowerRecruiter.NET and we use it at CorTech. It is easy to use and allows us to lower our recruiting costs substantially. It really automates the recruiting process and accumulates all related data that you would want to recruiter as well as accumulate new business. It does have a back office feature as well.. the website is www.powerrecruiter.net. I hope this helps, I use a few others, but this one was very robust and easy to use, as well as affordable.. Did you speak with Broadlook and Bullhorn about what you were looking for? I have not used Eclipse with Bullhorn but I would assume it integrates very easily with Bullhorn. Their other products are very easy to use with them. Example, Contact Capture can export a huge list to Bullhorn and create separate profiles contacts/candidates in seconds.

Also, as with any system, always ask if they do not show a feature you are looking for during the demo. After attending the Bullhorn user conference last week I found a number of ways to utilize the product in a better way. Their capabilities are so large and they make so many upgrades and offerings on a continual basis that it's impossible to list every use.

I had it narrowed down last year to Bullhorn and 2 other systems and have been satisfied with it's use for the past year however after attending the conference and seeing the new changes to the email feature, auto dialing and the different uses from other users I am very happy with my choice.

Well.........maybe so, maybe not. SaaS is great for some users, not so much for others. The more users, the more on-premise may be the better choice. Also if you have fixed costs already covered for bandwidth, server, database, and DBA services, paying (essential) margin to a vendor will clearly impact the possible value of any solution. There are many pros and cons for each model for each situaton (too many for this post).

Some vendors offer one or the other, some vendors offer both.
