Which are the alternate sources to find candidates other than job boards?

Hi,

Please guide me. Which are the alternate sources to find candidates other than job boards? Please help me out. I have couple of permanent jobs in USA, Canada and Hungary.

My primary source is my personal database of contacts that have been developed over the last 10 years. I like the job boards also for warm leads to candidates, but usually...I find that I call people with similar skills (but I know they are not a fit for the job). This way...they end up referring me to someone better qualified that isn't out there on the job boards looking for a job.

Or...if you know what company you want to pull someone from you can always cold call into that company or look it up on LinkedIn. Finding who works at a company using LinkedIn can be a powerful way to "get a name" so you aren't making a truly "cold call" into that company.
