Article: Why Employers Don't Want to Hire Overqualified Candidates

I thought this was an interesting read and worth sharing with RecruitingBlogs. The top 5 reasons;

1. We can't pay you enough.

2. You don't really understand what the job is.

3. If you take this job, you'll be bored.

4. You won't be happy working for a manager with less experience than you.

5. You'll leave as soon as something better comes around.

In my experience, #5 is the one that I hear most often for not moving forward with a candidate deemed over qualified. How about you? Are there other reasons you would add to this list?

I'll add one to the list!  Sometimes 'overqualified' employees feel compelled to let everyone know they are overqualified!  Morale can drop quickly if you have a toxic person like this on your team.  The problem is most recruiters won't be able to identify this as a possible problem during the interview process.  No fault of the recruiter, but something that when it surfaces, we say, 'I knew there was something but I couldn't put my finger on it....'.   

I've found that most are frustrated with the "hands-on" aspect of the job. Especially if they have been removed from it for a good length of time.
