From today's RBC Daily:
How do you go about defining success? Or more importantly what advice have you received that has helped you find success in your career? My first recruiting manager always stressed 'to do the right thing'. It sounds simplistic in nature, but for some reason it always resonated with me and worked. Call it instinct, call it gut reaction or call it having experience, when faced with a difficult situation I always went back to that advice and tried to do what I felt was the right thing.
There was a great article from Business Insider entitled 22 Executives Share The Best Advice They Ever Received. It is trending on LinkedIn so many of you might have already seen it, but if you haven’t read the article, it’s motivational and worth the quick read. Who doesn't like a little extra motivation on a Friday?
Question of the day: What is the best recruiting advice you ever received?

"All candidates lie."
I have since modified this to: "Everyone lies."
This is advice I received 7 years ago (being a beginner recruiter) from Lou Volpe Sr. of http://recruitalliance.com/:
"Only submit A+ candidates".
This advice has helped us compete and succeed. Thanks, Lou!

"Pick up the phone. Human relationships begin with interaction and all electronic forms of interaction are poor substitutes for picking up the phone."
Best advice I have ever received and more relevant today than ever before.
Ha - Amber took mine. :) Another great piece of advice I got was when you get a win, DON'T STOP. As soon as you hang up closing that candidate, getting that offer accepted, or setting up that new client meeting- pick up the phone and do it again. Don't stop to celebrate, or if you do, no more than 30 seconds. Keep the momentum.
