Question of the day: What was the highest number of fall-offs you had in a single month?
Tags:
3 on one day - all on the Friday before Monday's start. No counter offers. All received offers at other companies (consulting firms) that were 20% higher than our offers and each of ours was a nice raise...Lost $42,000 in fees in one day - and that was in the 80's!
You remember these things...and adjust prep. Never lost more than one in a month since.
I had five fall-offs in one day. Each person took the counter offer on the Friday before they were to start the following Monday. I had prepped up to and including that Friday morning about the evils of counter offers. Three months later they were all let go after their companies had replaced them - they learned never to take a counter offer again.
Before that day I had worked for 5 years and never had a turn down or a fall-off - I thought I was perfect. Oh, the mighty fall hard!
It all happened before noon and after discussions with my clients I turned the phones to voicemail, went home and ate a half gallon of vanilla ice cream with hot fudge – and wished I drank alcohol!
