If you have big company and a generous budget to splash out on an ATS that has all sorts of bells and whistles (and some functions that you might never use), top-notch support offering, and the lot, then you can easily go for some of the big boys on the list. On the other hand, if low cost is a major priority, you can still get a fully functioning ATS for much less - CATS or Standoutjobs for example. Or how about SmartRecruiters, which is even Free and you don't pay anything? Comment on: Blog Post 'Recruit or Hire: YOU decide': must be considered. Lee has two teammates ranked higher than he, so is he really a game changer in that environment? Or, is he more valuable to a team that needs just that one more piece to its puzzle? But my original point was that, even if someone is universally considered a game changer, a company may not have the wherewithal to land that person. For example, might a mediocre company in a mature industry land a top MBA graduate from a top school, when there are many other appealing choices to capture that game changer's attention? Probably not. Hopefully, they recognize that they don't have to goods to attract and retain that caliber of employee. I feel for the old pros; the young whipper snappers (spelling that out dates me and sounds S&M...never noticed that 'til now); and everyone in-between simply trying to make a living. Some are far from being recognized as perfect or "just right"; or "fun"; or puzzle-solvers—in the first 30 seconds--but they have potential to be ALL THAT...if given a chance. Comment on: Topic 'AIRS Certification worth it?': eful and applicable to a recruiter’s average time spent on research. With that said, I have taken many of the JOBMACHINE webinars and seen those guys speak uncountable times at industry conferences and with a cheatsheet and some good ol' fasion curiosity I truthfully believe you can create your own edge by practicing and exploring new ideas with the cheats they give you (try plugging in your own mix of strings, think outside of the "search box"). Webinars and self-educating, that has been my key to success, but hey- I suppose I am a member of that geek squad who cares enough to click a few extra links and piece together a non-conventional puzzle and make it fit. If you do end up taking an AIRS course, make sure to report in on how it went – I’ve heard too many mixed reviews about the outcome of results for the cost to try it myself.…; Added by Kristen Durkin at 4:20pm on November 14, 2008

How long does anybody think it would be before the announcement was made that those who wanted to read a book or work the crossword puzzle in the paper should do so on their own time. Personal phone time abuse has been an office problem since Alexander Graham Bell why is reading or talking on the net some sort of exception. Yes, I have done it myself. Check in on RBC get hooked in to a conversation, look up and I have wasted an hour of productive time. The only difference is I know it just cost me money.
