My uncles--WWII Combat Soldiers...Before and after their tour of duty they were hard working cowboys living and working in the badlands of New Mexico. Bronco busting...cattle drives...working on their ranch and on other ranches.
As a youngster I remember their smell...of leather, horses, tobacco, and sweat. Their handshakes were brick-hard and their stories of work, travel and war were riveting, with ample humor sprinkled in--always memorable.
They inspired the bunch of us youngsters in la familia. To this day our pride in them grows for who they were; what they did in life; and how they influenced our work ethic.
