Linkedin tries to make me feel special - and fails.

So I assume a lot of people got the "Congratulations! You're profile is among the X% most viewed on LinkedIn  email. I got it earlier this week and my natural suspicion immediately clicked in. I don't trust any email that says "click here for more info" if I'm not ABSOLUTELY sure of it's provenance.

However a bit of judicious googling shows it to be genuine...but also…

Copy and paste CVs damage your image!

There's a phrase I am seeing way too often;

"I have combined full time studies with other commitments. In achieving this, I have shown myself to be hardworking, dedicated and determined in achieving my goals."

I'm seeing it so often it's starting to make me yawn and it's colouring my opinion of what might otherwise be a good CV. It tells me the author went to the internet and slavishly copied the advice given there, without even bothering to reword it in any way. That…
