Could use a referral.

I have a sharp IP Attorney in the sweet spot for hiring with a JD 2010 and a Bachelors in Computer Science.  The only drawback is she wants in house and I only do law firms.  Is there anyone out there who would be interested in working with this type of legal candidate or know someone who would.

I would appreciate any help you can give or share.

Thanks.

My clients ask me to "just send me a copy of the resume"

Ok my specialty in legal is Intellectual Property.  When one of my former candidates called me she said my brother could really use your help, I thought yea if he is as good as his sister slam dunk.

Well his specialty is construction litigation.  I did that when I first got into the legal industry.  I did not want to disappoint his sister and he has a good background I decided to take him on.

Here is my problem I am doing my blind presentation and I am getting feedback but…

My new dilemma of the day for 2013

Ok I have not posted anything for quite some time.  Here is my dilemma of the day.  I recruited a very sharp Technical Specialist with not only a Bachlors Degree in EE but a PhD as well.  He told me the reason he is looking is the fact that his firm does not really support their TS going into to law school.  I am going to be honest here.  I did a presentation to one of the law firms that I work with and when the Partner ask me why he was leaving I gave him the reason but sort of glossed over…

How do you handle from the client we don't share a salary range?

Here is my new dilemma so to speak.  I am helping a law firm locate a candidate in IP with an undergrad in chemical engineering.  The job order said 1 to 5 years.  I talk to a great candidate with the required under grad.  It would be a relocation for him but he seems interested.  I ask him what his salary range is.  After hanging up with him I call the client  and leave a message for the recruiting coordinator with my presentation and salary range.  I get an email back saying that range is…

I am kind of surprised....

Maybe my request for the assistance of a corporate recruiter was the wrong one.  I know that posting my blog on May 24th in the afternoon was going to be a little slow in responses due to the holiday weekend coming up and so I had hopes of hearing something from someone at the first of the week.  What do you know here it is mid week and no one has stepped up to the plate.  Maybe I posted this in the wrong place and if I have, if someone could point me in the right direction I would…

Not really a dilemma more of a CHALLENGE......

Hopefully everyone is having a good week so far and are looking forward to the 3 day weekend.  Now on to the meat of my blog..I have a challenge for all of you corporate or business recruiters.  My field is legal and I was referred to an Attorney with an IP background.  After listening to and reviewing the resume I realized that this Attorney is actually much more than “just” an Attorney.  His business skills are exemplary and are where his strength really lies. …

My new dilemma of the day

Good Morning Everyone,

OK here is my dilemma of the day.  I was referred an Attorney with an IP background.  This candidate has a strong corporate background and has an IP background as well.  Here is my dilemma his law school grades are not good and he is a senior in the workforce.  I want to be able to help him but am not sure how.  He did some good things at his last firm that I may be able to use in my presentation but want to know how to get around his grades and his work…

My dilemma of the day..

OK I got some really good ideas from my last blog that I will give you my dilemma of the day.  I have a search going on for a very prestigious law firm.  They are looking for a very specific type of IP Attorney.  This candidate has to have an Advanced degree, great grades, good undergrad school as well as law school, plus work in either the pharmaceutical or biotechnology fields.  Lo, and behold I found such a candidate.  I presented the candidate on April 17th and was told please send in…

How do you get past the I don't know anyone looking response when networking with candidates?

That is the hardest obstacle that I have yet to get over.  So, I am sending this out to other recruiters out there to get their take on this response from candidates that are not interested in moving at the time that you call them. I believe in networking and looking for referrals on every call that I can.  I call an Attorney and he says yes when I tell him that I would like to take a minute of his/her time to discuss an exceptional opportunity that I am working on in their area. The…
