How are things?

I was wondering how folks around the network are feeling about the business these days. We have certainly felt the impact of the economy, but are fortunately still working on new orders. I am curious to know how things are going in other markets as well as other industries (we specialize in IT and A&F). Thought of the day - Is an intervention necessary?

I used to have a regional manager (when I used to work for that big, international, public monstrosity of a recruiting firm) that would make my recruiters cry every time he visited my office. We fought constantly over his approach to "managing" MY team. Although I think direct feedback is necessary as you develop people, it can be done in a way that doesn't leave your team member feeling like they were just hit by a mack truck.

Does recruiting make you crazy?

I have been in the recruiting industry since 2002 and am convinced that recruiting makes you nuts. I don't know what it is about this business, but it seems to drive everyone mad.



Is it because we deal with people on a daily basis and because of those interactions we lose ourselves? How many times have you had a candidate lie to you?
