I've just been in a discussion with a couple of colleagues about how risky it is to apply for a new job. It would seem that from the moment a candidate hits "send" on their online application, they become a magnet for trouble.
Think about it. How many candidates have you have who have applied for a job who - after you clarify…Continue
This is inspired by Jerry's blog on recruiters refusing to work through HR and the rant I had in the comment section. Thanks for the idea, hope I'm not copying!
I've been working through an RPO for about 18 months now. I came from an agency background, but had always been interested in taking the leap to…Continue
My other half is a vocal guy. He will not keep quiet when there is something out there he disagrees with. Unfortunately, he does not believe recruitment is a valid career choice. He teases me about being in the recruitment industry quite often and this has not let up since I stopped being an actual on the ground recruiter and moved to the marketing and business development side of our business.
I have heard him say it so many times that I now have the argument pretty…Continue

The person who ran the desk before her, who is now a director within the company, seems to have annoyed and alienated some…Continue
I work in a busy RPO office, we make dozens of employment offers on behalf of our clients every single day and 9 times out of 10 these offers are accepted. Candidates are grateful for the offer and excited to start a new job and hiring managers get a brand new person on board.
I have noticed though, that there seems to be a small percentage of candidates who wait until the very last moment to demand a very unreasonable change to their offer. In my previous firm someone's…Continue
Well, hello recruiting world. I have been reading the blogs on here with interest and decided to dive in myself.
Tiny bit of background on me and then I'll get on to my topic of choice. I'm working for an RPO organisation in Manchester UK on their business development/recruitment improvement/training/marketing side of things (yes, this means I am ALWAYS busy!) I'm relatively new to recruitment, having joined the industry in December 2009, but am very taken with it. What could…Continue
