Firefox is a sourcers best friend.

So I am updated to Firefox 3.0 and with the exception of signature all of my favorite add-ons have been updated. It is these add-ons that make my life as a sourcer much easier. So below I have listed the addons I use and what they do for me.

Google Toolbar - Besides the search and the Google dog food here are what I believe to be the best reasons to use it. The site search button - you find a site that you want to explore. Instead of typing out site:webaddress.com you just press the… Continue

Another great search engine.

So we all have used Google, Yahoo!, and some of us have even used Microsoft Live and Lycos. Well one search engine in particular has become a favorite of mine and that is Exalead (www.exalead.com). What I like about Exalead is its preview function. It allows you view the document in an HTML format with all the search criteria highlighted. A Poor Man's ATS

This posting is probably applicable only to contract recruiters, and people who are doing contingent placements on the side. I need some help with "my page"

Ok, I have grown rather fond of meebo and the meebome widget. I found that I can embed the meebome widget in comments, up obviously it disappears after people leave comments for me. I tried seeing if there is a gadget, but no one has create one yet. Does anyone know of a way to have the widget permanently placed on my page? I have placed the widget in my comment section, so that you can see what it is, and if I am on, you can IM me :)

I learned the value of a personal network.

I have only been in recruiting for a year and a half now. My first gig after going through Internet Recruiter training at Duran HCP was at Google, where I was able to build a small network of friends. When my contract ended, I applied for every sourcing job I could find and some would get back to me, but they went no further. Instead it was through a friend I met at Google that I was able to score my next gig at Yahoo!. At Yahoo! I met many more people, and when my contract ended there, they… Continue
