Recruiting vs. Human Resources (Different DNA)

I have been thinking a lot about this topic lately. I have been trying to think of the right way to say it without upsetting the majority of people that would be reading this. Something that is bothering me....

I attended a recruiting event last night. I don't remember who said the following statment but I was shocked that anyone would say such a thing regarding our profession or industry.

"We are a support group for the company" by referring to their internal recruiting organization.
