I attended a recruiting event last night. I don't remember who said the following statment but I was shocked that anyone would say such a thing regarding our profession or industry.

"We are a support group for the company" by referring to their internal recruiting organization.

My thoughts....

Recruiting is the lifeline of any company. Without a steady flow of new talent and the management of talent, any company will not succeed to its highest potential. Recruiting is anything but a "support group". When I have on my recruiting hat, my philosophy is that "This is my job to fill and the hiring team is here to help".....NOT, "This is the Hiring Team's job to fill and I am here to help".

Until recruiters can get over the inferiority complex (my opinion), we will always be looked upon as a "support group".
