Candididate Care and the Employer Brand

Large numbers of active candidates due to layoffs have flooded the marketplace requiring more vetting, due diligence and overall work. At times like these, candidate care may be reduced potentially harming the company brand.

A positive experience translates into quality hires, strengthens your company's employment brand, and reduces its cost per hire. A negative experience can result in a decline in the acceptance of employment offers, a decrease in the quantity and quality of applicants applying, and a negative image of the company throughout the labor market.

Take care during these times to respect the candidates, and their time and interest, by leaving them with the best possible experience outside of landing the job. This will not only help your brand in the future but will avoid any damage in the present.

Working with a recruiting firm can enhance the employment process by providing candidates with the high touch experience that will ultimately be associated with the employer and strengthening the brand you've worked so hard build.

I'd like to hear from you and how your clients are taking care to protect their brand....or not.

Great comments - and I do agree with much of what's discussed. But iot seems that the one biggest and consistent gripe/brand killer that most candidates complain of is STILL the 'black hole' of the online app - whether it be via a linkedIn job post/connection or directly at the companies careers site - candidates are not getting much, if any feedback. It's usually absolutely no response or an auto generated response. Clearly so much of the entire the process needs to be addressed.

I have had clients on both ends of the spectrum and I can say that with regards to diversity recruiting that the candidate feedback loop is crucial. One Diversity Manager I worked with was very savvy and knew that when he had high ptential prospect to bring them in... because even if they didn't come work for him... if the Company provided a positive experience they had a referral source and future prospect still in their sights for the future. To all the recruiters who get all the calls, think about it, if you just make 1 phone call they don't have to keep calling you... and calling you... work is important to us all especially now. We are in the human business and need to keep our humanity and compassion close at hand.
