Eight Random Facts About Mr. Moustache

I was tagged by Karen Mattonen a few days ago and was holding off until I could find 8 more people to tag, but then I decided it might be more fun to let people tag themselves. If you want to be tagged, tag yourself in the comments. If no one does, then I'll add some names later, starting with John Sumser. Here are eight things about me: 1. The moniker "Mr. Moustache" comes from none other than the Recruiting Animal. Now, I share the search term with a song by Nirvana. If I ever did a personal blog, I might call it that. 2. I once accidently blew off Annie Leibovitz's call because the publication I worked for didn't tell me they installed voicemail. She wanted to work on a book with me. She was less interested four months later. 3. I learned how to cook by interviewing chefs and writing dining reviews for about eight years or so in Las Vegas. It was fun. I also reviewed things like shows, stores, and tour and travel adventures. 4. I am one of the few people who ever received honorary status as member of Les Clefs d'Or. What's not to like about concierges? They rock! 5. I once shaved my moustache off just because someone said I was afraid too. Now I only do it for money. 6. My company turned 16 years old today. I started with a monochrome Mac Classic and fold out kitchen table. My first year billing was $15k so I also worked for Sherwin Williams Paints as a "colorologist," which was someone who could match paint perfectly to whatever you brought in. 7. I live in Las Vegas, but have plans to relocate in 2-4 years. We almost moved last year, but our daughter was born three months early during a gubernatorial campaign. Nowadays however, the Internet makes it possible for us to work anywhere. 8. During my first year in college, I drank beer in President Richard Nixon's old dorm room.

It's amazing how many names The Recruiting Animal has given that have stuck. Some great ones, some not so great.

If you choose to relocate to Toronto, I am sure it will be a good time, but it ain't Vegas

Toronto? Would I have to learn another language? ;)

I am sure we would love it. I have never been, but have always heard great things about it.

While no place is Las Vegas and the city has been very good to us, we are looking for something that will offer more for our kids. At the moment, Washington state and New Hampshire are high on the radar.
