RecruiterGuy Improve GelWell the 4th of July is upon us. It's this time of year that I'm always catapulted into taking a hard look at my current fitness program, recruiting practices, personal relationships, or work related self-development. Strange, I know - considering most people do this around January when resolutions run rampant or in the Spring when love is in the air (or is it because of that spring cleaning thing? either way...)

Every year at this time I spend some time on each of the above mentioned categories. Not because they are obviously lacking, but because there is always, Always, ALWAYS room to improve something. And whether my internal clock is simply out of sync with the rest of the world or it's just historically a good time for me to pull together everything I'm working on that I unconsciously think deserves a mid-year review - so here RecruiterGuy goes again with some push for personal and professional evolution, right?

I've two meetings today that will address interactive recruiting, veteran recruitment projects (a personal passion of mine) and more effectively recruiting the "workforce of tomorrow." At around 3pm today I'll head to the gym where I'll begin the revised version of my workout program that will focus more on cardio activity with some major Swiss Ball additions. And finally, before turning in tonight, I'll begin my Crucial Conversation studies.

Of course my intensity will increase as I get an increased level of motivation that comes each time I revise any efforts or streamline any initiatives - how could it not? But I'm more focused on improving both my professional and personal self in the grand scheme of things than I am just increasing my motivation. One begets the other, in my opinion.

Will you conduct a mid-year review of yourself and your practices? If you do - what will you focus on? If you're a person that did the Jan 1 resolutions isn't now a perfect time for you to evaluate where you are in comparison to where you said you'd be?

Take those goals you set and increase them - or revise them. Did you set goals that weren't reasonable? Did you go easy on yourself? It's mid-year... and time to step up.
