Shiny Red Apples and Big Red Tomatoes

Inspired by Joel Cheesman's post about ERE and RecruitingBlogs.com

It's apples and oranges. They are not the same. They don't function the same. the expectations for everyone involved are not the same. They are two very different brands and brands evoke feeling. The feeling between the two is different.

I'm not surprised that ERE is launching a Ning network for the Fordyce Letter. The thing about Ning and the kind of social networking it allows means that ERE has to move the fordyce network to a Ning type of thing. It's the way things are going. It's just a matter of time before lots of recruiting media companies make the decision or get told they have to start one. At that point it becomes fair to compare the two. Then it's apples and apples or if you like oranges it can be that. I think Joel is right when he says the people decide and really.

I bet you that Dave Manaster laughs more or is in disbelief more as a result of the stuff he finds on RecruitingBlogs.com. That's the idea. It all comes from the way Ning enables content and online connections to interact with each other. It's not because ERE or RecruitingBlogs.com does it any better.

And the most interesting thing of all is that in the poll that Joel put up, (I think it's down now because I just went there and did not see it) only about 15 people voted. I was one of them so the truth of the matter is, it's not real important.

If I had tough decisions to make with how to change my already functioning network into something completely different and better, If ERE is the the apple tree, I'd start a vegetable garden.

The Video below is called The Internet is for Porn. Don't watch it if you take offense. It's funny.
