LinkedIn: 50 Group Membership Limit set for August 14th!

fyi - if you've failed to read all of your recent emails from LinkedIn, you might want to pay attention to this.

On August, 14th, LinkedIn will begin enforcing a limit to the number of user-created groups any LinkedIn member may be part of at one time. They are setting that limit at membership in 50 (fifty) user-created groups.

If you have membership in more than 50 Groups (as most recruiters do), you will need to take the initiative to reduce your number of groups to 50 prior to that date. If you do not, after 30 days, LinkedIn will automatically keep the first 50 groups that you joined and remove the rest.

So, if you want to be part of the decision making process, it's time to get busy!

By the way, if you've never "removed" yourself from a group, it's fairly simple. Go to the My Groups page and click the word "Settings" next to the group you wish to leave. At the bottom of the settings page click the text "Leave this group."

That's it.

Good luck,

Why? Why? Why?..... just wondering. I'd love to hear what folks think the "why" behind LinkedIn's restriction is. Do tell.
