The recruiter becomes the recruited.....

It is true, tough times are out there and it appears that corporate recruiters should feel as though things are unstable.

I was released by my most recent employer a few weeks ago due to the economic slow down......have you heard about it?

Seriously, it is a tough market out there for us right now. Corporate Recruiters are not doing a bunch of recruiting right now which is kind of silly. With the immense amount of talented people on the market you would think many employers would be evaluating their current staff and determine if they are going to be a part of the long term strategy of the company. If so, they should be utilizing the current time as a way to develop the individuals, prepare for the impending turn around in the economy, or replace with more qualified better talent that will carry them in the future.

So here I am on the job hunt (really career hunt) and am not finding too much out there. I live in an area where unemployment has gone from 2.3% to 6.4% within the past two years. I am still amazed how some recruiters continue to take their time when recruiting especially with talented people on the market. I am networking like crazy, reading and writing blogs, applying for jobs, calling recruiters and just about everything else a candidate can/should do.

Let's see where it takes me.....

Good outlook! Refreshing. Here's another suggestion: try to have FUN with your search. Sometimes that's hard when there are financial pressures, but if you don't have fun with it you're going to end up desperate, and take a less-than-ideal opportunity.

Good luck!

Happy Hunting!!
