What’s Twitter?

Its Micro- Blogging. The most popular is Twitter among all Micro-blogging service. It is a form of blogging that allows users to write brief text updates (usually 140 characters) and publish them, either to be viewed by anyone or by a restricted group which can be chosen by the user.

One of the biggest values of Twitter is the relationship building/ networking, and connecting. Its a very powerful marketing & community building tool.
The messages on twitter can be sent via text or instant messaging, e-mail, MP3 or the web. Twitter can be used to quickly get out the latest news and really useful information. A new position in the co.; referral programs, employee news etc.
So is it a move away from blogging which is more of a journal type entry - who has the time to read all that? and welcome twittery? I still like to blog so I will keep that. Click here to read more.

I think Twitter is a tool to better follow up with people you are already networking with. Rather than an email, reading a whole blog or viewing an updated social networking page you can quickly see "what they are doing" as Twitter puts it.

The use of Twhirl allows you to see a quick notification on your desk top anytime someone you are following posts. This has helped me grow existing relationships as well as build new ones.

Also, the ability to have your Twitter feeds updated simultaneously on a personal blog, Facebook or any other site ties many networks together into one.
