Here’s something to consider whether you’re a Recruiter who uses email to network with potential candidates or a candidate who’s using email to submit a Resume and find a job.
According to this report from eMarketer, Wednesday is the best day to email.
The debate has raged for as long as email marketing has existed. According to the “2007 Q3 Email Marketing” study from eROI, the latest “best day” to mail is Wednesday. The study found that the average open rate on Wednesdays was 25.4% with an average click-through rate of 3.9%. Monday is the second best day to send emails if you want them seen and read.
As for the best time of day to email, the study found that open and click-through rates increased throughout the business day starting at 8am and growing to a high by 5pm.
Of course, numbers will differ from industry to industry. Creative execution, quality of mailing lists and the offers have a great deal to do with the results because it’s as much an art as a science.
I agree. The numbers are important, but the message contained within the email (i.e. how the information is presented) is even more so. Keep that in mind whenever you market yourself and/or your company using email.
