7 Surprisingly in Demand Careers for 2015

Some jobs are more profitable than others. If you're thinking about going back to school or earning any post-secondary job certifications, here are seven fields that would welcome you with open arms.

1. Physical Therapist

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 73,000 physical therapist jobs are expected to open up in the next decade. That's a 36 percent growth rate and one of the highest in the nation, so it's definitely a career worth considering.

2. Logistician

Have you ever wondered who counts, orders and distributes the products you see in stores? These jobs belong to logisticians, and perhaps it's because they're so little-known outside the corporate world, but the industry is looking to fill a lot of open positions in 2015.

3. Public Relations

Hundreds of students are flocking to public relations degrees as the world becomes increasingly globalized and in need of people who can bridge the gap. You'll learn a lot as a PR major, and you'll also enjoy a wealth of potential careers when you graduate.

4. Software Developer

There were almost 700,000 software developers actively working in 2014, so you may have thought the supply exceeded the demand. You'd be wrong, however: The job industry for software developers is expected to grow 15 percent in the next year alone.

5. Speech-Language Pathologist

You'll need a master's degree to get anywhere as a speech therapist, but once you do, the doors will be wide open with possibilities. You can work in a hospital with injured or disabled patients; you can work in schools with children who have learning disabilities; you can even work for private families.

6. Truck Driver

If you don't have the time to go back to school, consider becoming a truck driver instead. More than 100,000 will be required in the upcoming year, and you don't need anything but on-the-job training and the right kind of driver's license to qualify.

7. Septic Tank Specialist

No one wants the dirty jobs, which is one of the reasons you can make a killing by becoming a septic tank specialist. The industry desperately needs them, and they're willing to pay good money to see you trained and certified and on the street.

These are just seven fields that are looking for fresh blood in 2015. If you're tired of waiting by the phone for a callback, aim for one of these jobs and reap the benefits of a well-compensated, in-demand career.
