Bait and Switch, Consultant increases rate when customer wants to hire

Just had a consultant interview who wants to change the rate now that the customer wants to hire them. This consultant has to go in at a lower rate than they are used to cause the customer cannot get the req approved otherwise. It is only for a short time and so this person only has to deal with these types of pay issues until the economy gets better.

Our job sure is difficult sometimes. Working with people always presents extra challenges that working at a computer may not.

Been there before. I would telling them that it's unacceptable to your client to now change the rate, and that your role as client manager, is to not let this happen. Threaten to pull the req :)
yeah, it's a tough, and nasty, job...

Yeah. Thanks for the comment, Harold. The candidate is coming around. They have promised to give him OT hours to help make up the difference.
