Adding a little style to your company's offices may be more important than you realize. The generic, impersonal atmospheres of yesterday may seem more professional, but they're also quite boring. While there are limits to what's acceptable, it depends on your brand and your industry. More inspired surroundings will work better to engage employees and visitors. Employees that are more stimulated will be more productive, and customers will get a more positive impression. Here are some decorating ideas for the modern business.
Every company holds frequent meetings for brainstorming ideas, planning initiatives, or just getting everyone on the same page. But like it or not, many employees find meetings dull or even wasteful. They don't want to be there and don't contribute. It helps to make conference rooms more welcoming than stifling. Be sure there's plenty of natural light from large windows or skylights. Add some decorative potted plants for improved air quality and aesthetics. Keep it simple but appealing. A better environment will create a better attitude.
Keep it interesting by replacing those dull, uniform walls with splashes of color. Contrasting designs with interesting hues will be more stimulating. Don't be so complex or over-stated that the designs are distracting, but definitely go for something more striking, such as simple geometries or patterns. You could use colors that reflect your brand's color scheme or your business, for instance greens for a landscaping company or neon shades for a tech company. Consider that certain colors influence mood.
Your choice of décor is also something that should provide both visual stimulation and support your brand. If your company history is important to your culture, display photos or news articles about memorable people, products, or company milestones. If you have a more classical style, some elegant paintings and artwork can convey that. Posting current charts, diagrams, and other infographics can help employees to feel more informed and involved in the company.
Cheap or haphazard furniture will tell people that you aren't invested in your employees or don't care what visitors think. Have a little taste and consistency, but above all, go for comfort. Employees will be less motivated if they don't feel comfortable or appreciated. You could help them loosen up and stay healthier with ergonomic designs, adjustable desk tops, or acoustic materials to reduce noise. Supply padded chairs instead of hard plastic ones, especially in the lobby. Work with a company like D&R Office Works, Inc. or a similar firm to be sure that all these requirements are satisfied.
With a little research and experiment, you can find some modern design choices that both inspire employees and support your company message.
How about avoiding "Open Plan" whenever possible?
