‘Do you have a case of the Mondays?’ This infamous movie lines seems to be a common theme in offices every single Monday. Exhausted from a long weekend or maybe just not ready to get back to the grind, Mondays can be unproductive and low energy.

In my opinion Mondays are the day to set the tone for the work week. I do a few things each Monday to get me started on the right foot. Some Mondays are harder than others but I try every Monday to get going and make sure my week is going to hit the goals that I have laid out for myself.

Caffeine is my most important start to Monday. Not everyone is as dependent on caffeine as me, however, if it is a part of your daily routine don’t skimp out on it on Monday. It will get you back to the work week. Whether you drink coffee, have a nutritious breakfast, drink tea, whatever it is that makes you feel good in the morning be sure to make this an important part of your Monday routine.

Working out on Monday morning helps me get my mind transitioned from weekend to work. Nothing gets your blood flowing like 30 minutes on the bike, tread mill, stair master, or elliptical. Your adrenaline, metabolism will get moving and you can use this time to focus on what you need to get accomplished that day, week, and month.

When I walk into the office on Monday I organize my day and prioritize what I need to finish from the week before and what needs to be done. I find that when I feel organized I don’t feel as overwhelmed by the week ahead. I can see clearly the tasks that are of importance and I don’t get stressed about the things that are of low importance.

The last thing I do on Mondays is make sure I have things on my schedule. As appealing as it is to come in to the office on a Monday and have time to gather my thoughts, & items I find that when I get my day moving I get back into the swing of things and I actually accomplish more then when I come into the office with a half empty schedule.

If you start the week off right you will see the results in your numbers & production that you want. Don’t waste a minute at the office, use your time to network, surface candidates & accounts.

Amy - as much as I agree with you on your Mondays I feel the same goes for Fridays. Too often I see people just go through motions and take foot off the pedal by mid-day. I always seem to have a lot of activity and things going on Fridays and it really ramps things up to make Mondays that much better (if that makes sense). Thanks for sharing and have a great week.

I completely agree. Fridays can have the same effect on people!

My Monday Mornings are always great because i start Monday on Sunday night.  The gears shift from the weekend to the week before it starts.  I make it a point to go in late on Fridays so when i am at peak production is mid to late afternoon on Friday because stuff always happens lat Friday.  Friday is my latest day to be in the office.

I LOVE MONDAYS. Caffeine is important to me on every day of the week, but I don't need an extra shot to kick-start my Monday - I'm always energized & expecting great things. I find that Monday is a great day for NOT being on the phone because many people do not feel the same way as me about the first day of the week - so I take care of paperwork, emails, planning out the rest of the week, and projects that require "think time" and quiet.  Friday is my winding it down day... although I prefer leaving early to getting in late on Fri.
