Demand for Human Resource Professionals with Social Media Skills Continues to Grow

We are starting to see growing demand for Human Resources professionals with knowledge, skills and experience in social media.  In July, 438 job ads for Human Resource jobs included social media skills in their job requirements – up 140% from July 2010.

The majority of these job ads were for Recruiters (380).  During the month of July, 7% of all new job ads for recruiters required social media skills - up from just 3% in July 2010.

 

Many of these jobs are located on the East Coast, with New York, Boston, Washington, DC and Philadelphia appearing in the top 5 metro areas with the highest hiring demand.  Chicago was the metropolitan area with the 4th highest hiring demand.  Philadelphia experienced the highest year-over-year growth and more than 460%.

With the increase in hiring demand, how difficult is it to fill HR jobs that require social media skills?  Based upon the Hiring Scale, we estimate that it will be it moderately difficult to fill these open positions.  Of these 5 areas mentioned above,recruiters in Boston are likely to have the most difficult time filling these open positions.
