Demand for Registered Nurses Slips in June

Registered Nurses continue to be the most in-demand occupation in the US by a considerable margin, with 86,541 new online job ads posted by employers and staffing agencies in June. Hiring demand for RNs declined slightly last month, with a 2% dip, but still holds on to gains of more than 56% in 2011.

With such high overall demand,  recruiters face an uphill challenge in sourcing qualified candidates. Of the fastest growing major markets in June, Las Vegas has the smallest talent pool, with just 10 potential candidates for every new job posting. Cleveland has 14 potential candidates per new job ad due to a strongly established healthcare industry and talent supply. Even with such fast-growing demand, large candidate supplies in Pittsburgh and Detroit make these hiring markets somewhat less challenging  for recruiters.
